LIFTING WORKSHOPS

To get you started, and comfortable with weights, or to develop your lifting skills to a whole new level, we will organise ongoing Movement Workshops.

Each of these workshops will feature a limited number of participants (5-6 max), and focus on one exercise or movement pattern per 1-hour session. The exercises will range from the basics; Barbell Squat, Deadlift, Bench Press, Lunge Variations etc, to advanced sessions; Snatch, Clean & Jerk, or optimization of Powerlifting Movements.

The objective is to get all of the participants to develop perfect form in the relevant movement during the session.

Learn to Squat

Bar position, stance width, back angle, knee angle…there are a lot of factors to squatting well, and we will take you through the variations that may be best suited to your body. We also teach you how to create the largest amount of force and stimulate the different muscles that are activated during the lift.

Learn to Deadlift

There are a lot of different ways to pull a bar, dumbbells or kettlebell off the floor, but to do it well, that makes all the difference. Your stance, back angle and the way you drive your hips forward can mean the difference between “squatting your deadlift” and performing an optimal deadlift. We will show what to pay attention to and how to get into the correct position every time.

Learn to Olympic Lift

Although Crossfit has given a lot more attention to the Olympic Lifts, the Snatch and Clean & Jerk, to most these are still regarded as very difficult and somewhat extreme exercises, best avoided. In reality, Olympic lifts can be a lot of fun, stimulate your body in completely new ways and allow you to redefine what STRONG can mean in getting weight above your head. Why not join our beginner workshop and find out for yourself.

Workshop Breakdown

 
  • Our movement specific workshops are intended to get you comfortable executing a new movement correctly or brush up your technique so you can lift safely. 

  • We will limit the groups to 5 -6 people, so there is ample opportunity to observe, review and adjust with personal guidance.

  • We explain and demonstrate correct and incorrect movement patterns to highlight where mistakes are often made.

  • We analyze mobility and flexibility for each individual, to see how each person’s body structure and mobility limitations may affect the movement.

  • We Make individual adjustments where a person may be limited to follow the pattern demonstrated.

  •  At all times we prioritise safety and injury prevention, so we will refrain from lifting to our limits in these sessions.
