WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Do I need to have previous lifting experience to be a member?

Not at all, our focus is to teach people how to lift weights properly and controlled. Through our workshops and personal training sessions, we will get you comfortable using weights and executing all of the key movement patterns.

I want to build muscle, and am less concerned with getting stronger. Can you help me with this?

Yes, we can definitely develop a lifting program for you that is primarily aimed at muscle growth (hypertrophy). We will still use free weights and proper movement, but your program will have a combination of heavy and volume workouts to induce growth.

I have been lifting weights for a while now and have become interested in Olympic Weightlifting. Is this something you can teach me?

Yes, several of our Trainers are Certified Olympic Weightlifting Coaches, and they would love to get you started or help you improve.

How many different exercises should I be doing to train my whole body?

Using exercises that allow your body to move freely, such as barbell, dumbbell and kettle bell exercises, you could theoretically get away with 3 exercises; a push, a pull and a squat. Combined, these would train the majority of muscles in your body. However, there are many variations for each of these, and depending on your mobility and abilities, as well as your goals, it would be worth finding the ones best suited to you.

I like the idea of getting stronger, but I am afraid of getting bulky. Can I prevent this from happening even when I train with you?

Yes, there are a lot of factors that influence muscle size development, and we can help you focus on strength over size.

Does Movement Academy have showers and lockers?

Yes, we have individual shower and changing rooms, as well as personal lockers to store your belongings during your training session. We also provide towels.
